Winter Learning

This winter has brought us very little snow and some extremely cold temperatures. Mountain Kids Nanny still manages to get outside for walks, sledding, and park adventures. As long as everyone has proper gear, even the infants can be out for at least 15 to 30 minutes before we go inside to warm up. Some of our favorite indoor winter places to play in Durango are: the Library, the Powerhouse, and the Train Museum.

In January, we started the year learning about germs and poop. Then, we advanced into different types of animals. It has been fun using YouTube for a game of listening to animal sounds, then having the children guess what makes the sound. Allowing the kids to decide what art projects and sensory activities we do each day has helped them stay engaged and excited about learning.
